All Access Interview with Spotlight Athlete of
the Week, All-American hurdler:
Christina Manning.
Christina Manning.
When did you fall in love with track?
-Track wasn't always my number one go to , actually my sophomore year of high school I quit running. It wasn't until after watching my teammates compete in several meets where I began to miss it. It took me to be without the sport to realize I didn't hate it at all, but loved it.
So after a successful 2011 campaign what are
your expectations for this 2012 upcoming season ?
-2012 is going to be a big year for me, I say that because I have very high expectations for myself and when I really want something nothing can keep me from it . For big tens indoor and outdoor I plan on winning every race I compete in and setting records. The goal is to win nationals in the 60m hurdles and 100m hurdles, and advance after the Olympic trials.

When did you realize you just weren't the
average track athlete anymore?
-When it comes to track I never viewed myself as being average. For me to become serious about something there are two things that are very important: 1. I have to be in love with it and 2. I have to stand out in it. On the collegiate level, average isn’t going to cut it if you plan on being someone worth mentioning.
So what's a day like in the shoes of Christina Manning?
-Haha, a day in my shoes ... Well it consist of a lot of junk food , too many laughs , and constantly being around an amazing team. And due to my crazy friends, I never really know what is going to be thrown at me in a day .

So my sources tell me that you can sing, is
this true?
Hmmmmmm ... Haha Yes this is true
Who's your favorite rival ?
-I don't have any one specific but anyone who makes the race interesting. I love being pushed. And I love to run with amazing athletes.
How are you preparing for the Olympic trials and what events will we see you competing in?
-Mainly by staying focused and keeping my head in the right place. Track is 90% mental, everyone knows that . The wrong thought process can really throw you all the way off. I constantly imagine running that race specifically ... A clean cut race. I work hard in practice and I listen to my coach's feedback, never taking it for granted.

So I'm sure every guy in the track & field world wants to know if Christina Manning is single or not
-If you're asking if I have somebody the answer is yes, but If you're asking am I in a relationship the answer is no
So do your prefer dating athletes within your sport, athletes in other sports or non-athletes
-I always thought dating someone in my sport would be cute , but it's hard to find a track athlete on the same level as me that's not big headed . Men and their egos can be something else. Athletes are fun, the fact that we would be able to relate and the nice body would be a plus but a non-athlete could also be interesting for me. For him to learn about my sport. Like him not being an athlete but learning everything about my sport and really becoming interested would let me know how interested he really was in me . But as far as which one would I prefer , I don't know , whichever one was able to actually get me but I don't discriminate .
