WALNUT: Two world leading marks at MtSAC Relays. World champion Brittney Reese continues in her dominance and her 712 (-0.9) in the long jump was not a surprise. But the sub 45 world lead by Briton Martyn Rooney 44.92 was not expected. He beat Jeremy Wariner 44.96 and Bryshon Nellum 45.18 PB. Fast 100 m by Walter Dix 9.85 (his season opener) was aided by +2.4 ahead of returning from ban Mike Rodgers 9.97 and Nigerian Peter Emelieze 10.08. Jeremy Dodson was the fastest in the 200 m in 20.39 (+1.8) ahead of Diondre Batson 20.50 (lifetime best) and Mike Rodgers 20.75. Here olympic medalist Richard Thompson got 20.80 as fifth. Another fast and windy season opener for hurdles Daegu winner Jason Richardson with 13.20 (+3.7) over Omo Osaghae 13.24, Ryan Wilson 13.36 and Ashton Eaton 13.52 (he also clocked 10.36 in the 100 m and great PB in the long jump 806 as third). Mexican Luis Alberto Rivera improved to 822 (-2.2) in the long jump over Japanese Yohei Sugai 809 and Briton Greg Rutherford achieved 805 (-0.8) as fourth. In other technical events Canadian Mike Mason cleared 228 in the high jump, good pole vaulting by Briton Steve Lewis and Japanese Daichi Sawano (both 572), Aarik Wilson got 17.07 (-1.1) in the triple jump (his first 17+ since 2008) and Slovak European Champion Libor Charfreitag 75.01 in the hammer. From races still to note the 1:46.03 by Duane Solomon in the 800 m, Michael Tinsley 48.83 at 400 m hurdles over olympic winner Angelo Taylor 49.38. HSI International clocked 38.39 in the sprint relay and Great Britain 3:03.74 in the 4x400 m. In women events US record holder Jill Camarena-Williams started the season with 19.80 in the shot put (her best begin ever). Good quality high jump for Brigetta Barrett and Inika McPherson tied with 195. Kelsie Hendry cleared 450 in the pole vault. In the hammer Amber Campbell 71.57 ahead of Jessica Cosby 71.29 and Sophie Hitchon new UK record 70.47. In the races to note former world champion Lauryn Williams posted 11.17 (+1.5) in the 100 m over Michelle Lee-Ahye of Trinidad 11.19 and Lisa Barber 11.20. Leslie Cole improved to 22.63 (+0.9) to win the 200 m ahead of Nigerian Blessing Okagbare who also improved her best to 22.70. Junior runner Bukula Abogunloko of Nigeria improved to 51.87 at the 400 m. Molly Beckwith won the 800 m (2:00.34) and Georganne Moline the 400 m hurdles in 55.25 PB. Hurdles veterans continued with windy sub 13 times. Michelle Perry 12.70 (+2.5) ahead of Joanna Hayes 12.72. Fast 4x100 m by Kersee All-Stars 42.87 beating TC Management 42.92.

GAINESVILLE: World leading 13.17 (+1.5) by David Oliver at 110 m hurdles highlighted the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational. Second 2009 World champion Ryan Brathwaite of Barbados clocked 13.29, his fastest since 2009. Third Joel Brown 13.30 ahead of olympic medalist David Payne 13.34 and French 2005 World Champion Ladji Doucoure 13.37 (his fastest since Beijing Olympics). European Champion Andy Turner got 13.57 (+2.1) in heats. Women hurdles nearly saw British record. Tiffany Porter clocked 12.47 (her UK mark is 12.56) but was aided by +3.0. Second Christina Manning 12.57 and third in first race of the season Kellie Wells 12.61. French Eloyse Lesueur jumped to windy 687 (+4.8) and legal 675. Italian Libania Grenot (coached now by Loren Seagrave) opened so fast as never before with 51.19 at the 400 m. Charonda Williams beat twice Jamaican Aleen Bailey in sprints (11.27 to 11.32 in the 100 m and 22.81 to 23.11 in the 200 m). World indoor champion Justin Gatlin showed great shape with 20.11 (+1.0) at the 200 m, his fastest since return at the longer sprint distance. Second Churandy Martina 20.42. Jeff Demps achieved 10.19 in the 100 m (0.0), Calvin Smith clocked 45.72 in the 400 m and Eric Alejandro of Puerto-Rico 49.68 at the 400 m hurdles. World indoor triple champion Will Claye leaped to 825 (+1.6) in the long jump over Europeans, French Kafetien Gomis 813 (+3.5) and Briton JJ Jegede windy 796 and legal 793. Florida clocked 38.67 in the 4x100 m.

FAYETTEVILLE: World indoor champion from Istanbul Aries Merritt opened the outdoor season with two 13.25 times (heats and finals +0.9) at the John McDonnell Invitational. Second Jamaican Andrew Riley improved to excellent 13.28 and achieved another lifetime best in the flat 100 m with 10.28 (+0.8) in heats. Akheem Gauntlett won the 400 m in personal best 45.65 and second Marek Niit improved Estonian record to 45.91. Bahamian Ray Higgs leaped to 807 (+1.9) in the long jump.

BATON ROUGE: Last year NCAA 200 m champion Kimberlyn Duncan was lucky at the LSU Alumni Gold meet. She won the 100 m in 11.05 and the wind was legal +1.0. For her new PB and world lead. During her 200 m win 22.55 it was already +4.9. Also when Trell Kimmons clocked 10.00 in the men´s 100 m it was +5.0. Ryan Fontenot clocked 13.39 at 110 m hurdles with +3.8 support. But again lucky wind for Prezel Hardy when winning the 200 m in 20.43 (+1.0) ahead of Bahamian 400 m runner Demetrius Pinder 20.46 and also for Jasmin Stowers with 12.92 (+0.9) at 100 m hurdles. Canada clocked 39.25 in the 4x100 m.
CHAUNTE OPENS WITH 2 METERS
AUBURN: World indoor high jump champion Chaunte Lowe opened her outdoor campaign in great style. She cleared already in her first meet at War Eagle Invite two meters in first attempt, also a world leader. She then tried at 202 cm. Bahamian sprinter Sheniqua Ferguson is currently in new level of her results and won the 100 m in 11.07 PB (+0.9) and clocked lifetime best already in heats 11.10. Olympic medalist Kerron Stewart won the 200 m in 22.79 (+2.0). Auburn Elite mixed team won the 4x100 m in 42.81. Mookie Salaam as second after Yohan Blake achieved in 2012 a sub 10 time with 9.98 (+1.0). It is his second career sub 10, achieved 9.97 last year. Second Trindad´s Marc Burns 10.08 and third Keenan Brock personal best 10.09 (another PB for him when winning the 200 m in 20.47, +0.5). Bahamian global medalists scored wins, Donald Thomas 226 in the high jump and Leevan Sands 16.90 (-0.1) in the triple jump.

WACO: World champion Sanya Richards-Ross confirmed her great shape of 2012 with 50.18 world leading 400 m win at the Michael Johnson/Dr. Pepper Classic meet. Last year her time at the same meet was 52.00. Her next competitions will be Penn Relays and Jamaican Invitational. Charles Silmon won the 100 m in 10.15 (+1.6) and 200 m in 20.65 (+0.3). David Verburg improved to 45.56 in the 400 m. Jamaican Jura Levy was the fastest in women 100 m in 11.27 (+0.6) over Tiffany Townsend 11.31 (and 23.21 200m win +0.1).

CHARLOTTESVILLE: Cayman Islands sprinter Kemar Hyman again improved the national 100 m record to fast 10.07 (+0.8) when winning the ACC title. Second Maurice Mitchell 10.21. Hurdles winner Devon Hill improved to 13.35 (+1.9) ahead of Spencer Adams 13.39 (also PB). Florida State posted 39.08 in the 4x100 m. Dezerea Bryant clocked two personal bests to win women sprints (11.29 +1.0 and 23.05 -0.3). In the longer sprint second Marlena Wesh of Haiti with 23.06 national record and she also won the 400 m in another national mark 51.43.

LAWRENCE: Bershawn Jackson improved his own world leading mark at 400 m hurdles during the Kansas Relays to 48.20. Second Justin Gaymon 49.53 and third Danny McFarlane with world masters record for 40+ category 50.39. The former world record in this category was 52.76 by US James King from 1989. DeeDee Trotter won the women 400 m in her fastest time since 2008 50.94 beating Diamond Dixon 51.80. Kristi Castlin clocked 12.87 (+1.3) in the 100 m hurdles and Ronnie Ash 13.37 (-0.1) in men´s race ahead of Jeff Porter 13.44. LaShauntea Moore was fast in the women 100 m in 11.14 (+1.1) beating Gloria Asumnu of Nigeria 11.30 and Norwegian record holder Ezinne Okparaebo 11.47. South African Peter Van der Westhuizen achieved 3:56.90 in the men´s mile. Unfortunately -1.1 wind did not allow faster times in men´s 100 m won by Darvis Patton in 10.29 ahead of Travis Padgett 10.31.

MUMIAS (KEN, Apr 20-21): World record holder David Rudisha clocked a classy time of 45.8 at 400 m in Mumias at the Athletics Kenya meet. It was in heat, he did not run the final. Pamela Jelimo won the same women event in 53.6 (heat in 54.5). Asbel Kiprop was also fast in the 1500 m in 3:35.4 what is a world lead. Nixon Chepseba won the 800 m in 1:47.7. Young Conseslas Kipruto won the 3000 m steeple in 8:26.0 over world leader Jairus Kipchoge 8:26.6. Lydia Wafula got 4:09.0 in the women 1500 m heat.

GREENSBORO (USA, Apr 21): Fast sprints despite head-wind here. Ruddy Zang Milama of Gabon clocked 11.16 (-1.4) in the 100 m, Vanneisha Ivy 12.96 (-0.6) at the 100 m hurdles. In men sprints Calesio Newman got 10.08 (-2.2) PB in the 100 m heats and won the 200 m in 20.63 (-1.9). In the 100 m final the win for Ben Meite of Ivory Coast 10.27 (-1.7).
MIKOLOW (POL, Apr 21): Polisha 10 000 m track titles for steeple runners Lukasz Parsczynski 28:54.33 and Wioletta Frankiewicz 34:06.38.
PATIALA (IND, Apr 21): At 16th national federation Cup Senior Athletics Championships Tamil Nadu triple jumper Renjith Maheswary finally achieved the Olympic qualification with 16.85, exactly the B standard.
TEL AVIV (ISR, Apr 21): New women shot put Israeli record for Annastasia Metskeyev with 17.18 m.
KOBE (JPN, Apr 21): World leading 10 000 m time by Kenyan Martin Mathathi 27:35.16 at the Hyogo Relays. Mathathi was not running at the Kenyan mini Trials during the week. Second Patrick Muendo 27:49.43 and third best Japanese Daisuke Shimizu 27:50.50. In the Asics Challenge race another Kenyan Charles Ndirango achieved 27:58.02.
SANTA FE (ARG, Apr 21): Talented Braian Toledo won the javelin with meet record 77.21 during first day of Argentinean Championships. German Lauro got good 20.24 in the shot put.
CHANGZHOU (CHN, Apr 21): Gu Siyu achieved excellent 60.59 in girls discus at Chinese Junior Championships. Ye Jiaying cleared 188 in the high jump. In boys events good sprint double by Xie Zhenye 10.45 (+1.0) in the 100 m and 20.77 (-0.2) in the 200 m.
