SLAUGHTERHOUE

There’s been a debate lately overwhich group is better, Young Money or Slaughterhouse

There’s been a debate lately overwhich group is better, Young Money or Slaughterhouse. While both groups areextremely talented, I think that it’s obvious that one group wears the crown asthe best MC’s in the game. Obviously Young Money has strength in numbers.Headlined by big names such as Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nikki Minaj, Young Moneyhas not been shy about adding new artists and has been signing everybody whohas made a song recently (Even Limp Bizkit).Slaughterhouse on the other hand iscomprised of only four rappers: Royce Da 5’9, Joel Ortiz, Joe Budden, andCrooked I.

Slaughterhouse is a hip hop supergroup comprised of rappers Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce Da5'9" and are currently signed to Shady and Interscope Records. The groupformed in late 2008 after Crooked I, Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5'9", and Nino Blessappeared on the song "Slaughterhouse" from Joe Budden's album HalfwayHouse. They decided to form a group, minus Nino Bless, naming themselves afterthe song that brought them together.

It's not hard to see howSlaughterhouse has become Shady Records' prized possession. The four-mancontingent has an infectious, high energy, which they bring to every track andevery live performance. Slaughterhouse's highly anticipated, Shady Record'sdebut is set to drop on May 15th, after pushing the release date back severaltimes. The push backs are sure to have been worth it, considering how hands onEminem, producer and Shady Record's owner, has been with the making of the LP,welcome to: Our House.

The debate of superiority, I thinkit’s important to look at who is more lyrical and raw, because that’s whatbeing a MC is about. It’s about coming up with innovative ways of stayingcurrent. My only beef with Young Money is that they went soft. They have plentyof okay rappers/’pop singers, but their leader, Wayne is more concerned aboutmaking club bangers than going back to his grimy gutter ways like he did on hismix tape Da Drought 3.

While many YMCMB fans will stayfaithful and say there is no comparison, those fans who truly understand whatlyrical content means may differ. Slaughterhouse on the other hand possessesmystical linguistics that Young Money lacks, especially in their recentfreestyles and cyphers since being signed by Eminem. Individually, they arehand downs better MC’s than Young Money and their raps are straight fearless.Though their songs could be fine-tuned, their creativity is gigantic and cansquash anybody who dares to step to them. They complement each other’s flow andrhyme about hood shit in an articulate way that puts the new recent ‘hyperappers’ (not just Young Money) to shame.

The main difference between the twogroups is one is about the fame and the other is raw talent, spitting about whatthey’re living. I think it is safe to say that Slaughterhouse takes the victoryover Young Money in this match up, but keep your heads up YMCMB there's always Fubu.
